II Curator’s Note

Primavera

Within a shadowed grove of orange trees, Botticelli's Primavera unfolds as an elaborate allegorical relic—a celebration of spring's luminous arrival.

Nine figures from classical mythology populate this old-world scene: Zephyrus, the wind god, embraces the nymph Chloris, whose transformation into Flora, goddess of flowers, is depicted through the scattering of blossoms from her lips. At the center, Venus, sovereign of love, presides beneath her son Cupid, while the Three Graces perform an ancient ritual of dance, and Mercury, clad in crimson, dispels the lingering clouds of winter.

Restored in the Surrealium atelier, this archival pigment print on Hahnemühle 308gsm cotton rag recaptures the original's delicate palette and intricate detail. Every petal, every fold of velvet drapery, every luminous figure is rendered with museum-grade precision, allowing the viewer to experience the painting's atmospheric depth and symbolic richness anew, as if directly from the Renaissance memory.

Primavera stands as an enduring emblem of beauty, fertility, and the cyclical devotion to nature. It is a profound meditation on renewal, a celestial vision where myth and earthly splendor intertwine in a harmonious, unforgettable ballet.
